lost my keys now l must use a locksmith...does my car keys require a microchip? (transponder) or is it a regular key..trying to prevent getting ripped off.

u will need to have the keys made by a honda dealer. ur car has the immobilizer system on it & it will not start unless the new keys r programmed to the computer in the car. So yes, the key for the car does have a 'chip' in it.

a honda dealer can make the new keys for u from the vehicle identification number. u will need to show them a registration or other proof that u own the vehicle before they will make the key. a new key can be used to open the doors without programming but it will not start the car unless it is programmed. The car will probably have to be towed to a honda dealer to have the key programmed.

honda guy is right on you have bring the vin a proof of owenr ship to a honda dealer and they can make keys for you
