I am trying to find a good honda mechanic in Dallas ( Irving/Lewisville/Coppell/Addison) area to replace the timing belts, water pump on my 'new' 96 accord. l tried searching around but, l could not find any reviews on local shops. Please help.

Dealership quoted $715.00 for timing belt, water pump, engine seals and drive belts

l personally am not from the area, but that seems like a good price from the dealer. Also, you will know that everything is legit since it is a Honda dealer.

l am not a big fan of the dealerships - they do not seem to be selling as many cars & must be trying to make it up in the shop. Not that they're all bad, but just usually more expensive than an independent mechanic. Try taking a look at the Car Talk web site (link below). Check out ''Find a Mechanic'' & u can search ur area & see review of mechanics from regular folks. It is right on the main page - near the bottom right. I've used this tool to find my local mechanic - he does great work, cheaper than the dealer, & is a good guy!
