l advance the timing belt. it is probably close to a tooth off. not a tooth but close to a tooth. l feel more power.the only problem is that it is hard to star. it takes about 3 seconds of turning the key in till it starts. is this okay. l only have the car for two more months, will anything happen to the car in two months

a number of things can go wrong from this. whats happening is the cylinder is recieving spark way before the piston is at the top of its travel and needs it. you're making the engine pretty much work against itself. it will run better when your at 3000rpms+, but its obvious from your hard start up that its affecting your low RPMs. l would put it back to its correct position before you crack a pistion or damage the starter that is trying to crank an engine up against its own will.

What the guy said above me is not entirely true. It will not mess up the starter, only if the starter is on for over 30 seconds will it get too hot and start to burn parts out. If it will do anything to any part because of the advanced timing it would be the valves.

Your advanced timing only pays benefits at a very high rpm so during starts you are trying to ignite the fuel too late.

l fail to see how you are capable of advancing the timing but seem to know very little of the consequences of doing such a thing. Really, did someone put you up to this?

it does put stress on the motor.
but less than a tooth wo not cause anything bad to happen in 2 months.
if you want, turn the dial on the distributor until it is even less.
