It is the faulty switch inside the seat belt buckle that causing the srs light to come on. But since it is on the driver side, the dealership refuses to fix it free of charge because the issued recall only covers the passenger side.How true is this statement?

l do not get it .....does it matter which side?? faulty unit is faulty unit!

Checking through the recalls l think your dealer may not wish to help you.
If l was you l would contact honda at 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.
They will be able to help you.

the seat belt is covered under a lifetime warranty by Honda; the recall is not for the problem with the seat belt--its a separate issue entirely.that deals with the occupant presence detection sensor. that is a passenger side issue that has nothing to do with the seat belts or the seat belt buckle.

your seat belt buckle is defective & Honda has a lifetime warranty for defects in the seat belts. Talk with the service manager at the dealership as apparetnly the person u r speaking with is confusing the two issues. be sure that they understand that the problem should be covered under the lifetime seatbelt warranty.

I've replaced hundreds of belt buckles on hondas under that warranty.

if u can not get satisfaction from that dealer, try another or call honda.

They should not be refusing to do it.
My best friend has a 2000 Honda Accord and this happened to him on the driver and the passenger side.
The dealership fixed the recall with no questions asked.

l would recommend either taking it to another dealer or calling honda directly (should be in your owner is manual).
