mine is currently running around 26-29hundred rpms in drive and this seems high to me can anyone tell me if this is too high or if this is where it should be running at around 60mph, l would like to get better gas mileage out of this and l dont really care what my top end speed is just so long as its still around 80, right now everything on the car is stock and its an automatic almost forgot that. i'd be willing to put a different rear end in it for better gas mileage and lower rpms so if anyone can tell me where it should be that would be fantastic and also if lowering the rpms would hurt any other performance l know its only a 4cylinder and all and l dont led foot it around l care more about mpg than mph

LX HAVE HIGHER GEARS THEN A DX.. DX HAS THE LONGER TRANS IN THEM YOU CAN HIT 120 IN THERD. BUT LX IS LIKE FOR SHORT DRANG ANY WAY YOU CAR IS FINE AND IF YOU GO 5MPH OVER 55 MPH ITS LIKE SPENDIN 20 MORE CENTS ON THE GALLON

sounds like it is correct to me because my car does the same
and l still get 40mpg out my hatch
if u wanna know how many mpg u get then set the meter below ur odometer to O & then fill up ur tank just drive like u regularly do & when that tank is almost gone check how many miles u get out of it & divides that by how many gallons ur car has then u should know how many mpg u r getting
the most l know for ur civic lx should be around 35-37 mpg
thats the max it will go
