the yaris is heaven as the coupe, but when it is in the sedan trim, it is as ugly as H**L. l find the civic much more appealing. both cars have roughly the same performance features, although the civic might be a tad faster. l say go honda. l think the civic start at like 15k, the yaris might be cheaper though, still, go civic
good luck,

The Toyota Yaris is generally cheaper & offers better fuel economy but the Honda Civic has reigned as a class leader in the compact car market for some time now. l would weigh ur decision based on how much u want to spend. If u r looking for the cheapest bargain possible, l would choose the Toyota Yaris. If u r willing to spend a bit more for though, u can get a better looking car with slightly higher performance. Personally l would consider the Mazda 3 also though.

The Toyota Yaris is a subcompact with a lower price point & the Honda Civic is a compact conventional car model with a higher base price. .Each of the models is among the most fuel efficient & green models, according to our firm is research. Automotive Environmental Index (AEI), which combines EPA data with our firm is consumer-based research data. The Yaris is about 7 inches shorter than the Civic & about 580 pounds lighter. It stands an inch taller than the Civic as well.

The Toyota Yaris delights subcompact car owners the most along with the Honda Fit & Scion xD, according to our firm is latest APEAL Study. It is among the most fuel-efficient--averaging 33.4 mpg, according to actual owners. The Yaris comes in sedan & now a hatchback ''S'' Sport model body style. The subcompact model was introduced in 2007 as a replacement for the Echo & was sold for several years in Europe & Japan before arriving in the U.S. market. It earns 4 of 5 stars (top rating) in driver & passenger frontal impact crash tests, but only 3 stars for front & rear seat protection in side impact tests. It retails for about $12,200 to less than $14,700.

The Civic is the best-selling compact car in the U.S. & also was the highest ranked compact car model in our company is Initial Quality Study. Toyota Prius & Hyundai Elantra also earned high quality marks in the compact car category. The Civic also is one of the top performers in our Automotive Environmental Index (AEI) & its estimated mileage is 30.2 mpg, according to real-world owners. It is a pricier car since it starts at about $15,000 & can retail for as much as $29,500. The Civic was last redesigned in 2006 & is now more aerodynamic with a futuristic & roomy interior. It comes in coupe & sedan body styles & includes natural-gas & hybrid powered versions. 2008, Honda has furthered the appeal by introducing a new top-of-the-line model with a leather-trimmed interior & a limited-run ''tuner'' model. Civic also earns higher marks in federal crash tests--5 out of 5 stars for frontal driver & passenger safety & 5 stars for rear seat side impact protection. It also receives 4 of 5 stars in the rollover rating. As for predicted reliabiltiy, Civic also is nearly among the best--receiving above 4 out of 5 Power Circles in dependability--based on the reliability of 3-year-old models.

Let me answer your question first by giving the Yaris & Civic the classification. The Honda Civic is equivalent competitive model is the Toyota Corolla & the Toyota Yaris' equivalent model in Honda is the City. But if l would compare both l would go for the Civic. First it is a higher class than the Yaris. Next you would be getting a lot of choice especially on the sedan variants. Do not get me wrong, Yaris is a good car model but different class. Hope l helped a little. Cheers.

You're comparing two different categories of vehicles. First, the Civic is a compact car comparable to the Toyota corolla. And the Yaris is a sub-compact, comparable with the Honda Fit. If you want a fuel efficient car that is both stylish and practical l would go with the Honda Fit. By the way, the newly redesigned model is coming out for '09 and it looks sweet!
