my 96 civic needs a new motor can somone help me find one without having to spend thousands l just want my car back!!!

Go to a junkyard or pick-apart lot or something like that.

wooo for the CIVICS!!! No problem depending on ur state l am not sure where u r from but in AZ we have many junk yards dubbed named Pick a Part! & that is what u do usually these places charge $100 per ton of weight! It does not matter what u have that adds up to the ton but it is still $100 bucks l always try to find a civic that has been rear ended or T-boned but as long as it has not been hit in the front u can probably guarantee the engine is still good! just need ratchets screwdrivers & a engine hoist would be help full or a couple of buddies who do not mind being dirty! Also try Craigslist usually people r scrapping them & u can get a engine for 100-300 if u want more help let me know!!

l wouldnt look on line for it cause even if you find one cheap shippings gonna suck. just look in the yellow pages onder auto wreckers or junk yards stuff like that in your area. and call as many as you can get prices.

If you wanna go cheap you're going to have to get a used one from an auto salvage yard. Then you're going to have to pay someone to install it and hook everything up so that it works properly, unless you know how to do it yourself, it is still going to be expensive. That is why a lot of people just sell the car for what they can and get another one, when the engine goes.

a new engine will cost a lot..try searching for a rebuilt..try jasperengines.com..there are many rebuilder,s..check at local auto part,s store,s...marshal engine,s is another choice..shop around ..unless a used engine will do...then try auto salvage yard,s...good luck!

the ones u r seeing on line r the b series motors, which have much more hp than ur stock civic d series motor. the GSR & Type R b18c series r the most expensive because they r up at about 200 hp & r hard to find. the d series motor goes for like 500-800 dollars depending on where u live & how many they have. go to the local junk yards & look, if u can find a b18 motor get it, u could use that in ur car or turn around & sell it for even more than u got it for. they r in high demand. good luck & l hope u find one

First off a NEW engine is going to run thousands. What trim is ur Civic, EX, LX, or DX? The DX & LX share the same D16Y7 motor & can be found with low mileage for around $300, the EX has a D16Y8 (VTEC) & can be found for about $500. People will try to tell u to get the D16Z6 & stuff like that, but they wont tell u that its OBD1 not OBD2 like ur car & will cost even more either converting ur car to OBD1 or the motor to OBD2. Look on Ebay, ALOT of people put their motors on there after doing engine swaps & can be found for quite reasonable prices. l saw a 98 EX motor sell for $85.00 the other day that had 105,000 miles on it.
