l have a 1988 honda prelude 4ws, and l wanna know if it has a vtec motor? how can l find out, or do you know if it is? Thanx.

None of the 3rd generation Prelude engines came with VTEC power. Most B20A and B21A engine series had DOHC (Double overhead camshafts) and PGM-F l (Programmed Fuel Injection) and some were SOHC (Single-OHC) with a carburettor. None had VTEC though.

the 4WS option was an add-on to the standard Si package (they also got power locks, for some reason).

you have the 2.0L DOHC PGM-Fi motor. VTEC was not available in the prelude until 1993.

the B20 in your car is the retarded older brother of the b-series motors that came in the civics, del sols, integras, and early CR-Vs. nothing else (better) will bolt to that transmission, so any swap turns into a motor and tranny and axles and mounts and computer deal.
