Im from Manila, and Im gonna buy me a Honda del Sol, the thing is its a USDM 1997 model with a SOHC engine. My question is; Is it possible to swap a JDM engine such as b16a Type r?

Honestly, it is possible. The problem your going to run into is main wiring harness needs to be the right type (OBD0, OBD1, or OBD2). Two. The engine mounts may be in different spots. Im not quite sure. You will need a new trany and new ECU. Prety much EVERYTHING that has to do with the motor.

And Type Rs are the B18C5. (well, the DC2 anyway)

Yes, u can. Just make sure that u have the B16B tranny, engine & tranny mounts, hydraulic clutch, & ECU from the donor Type R. Also, u might need the front axles as well. The Type R could have a limited slip differential like the Integra Type R. Still, it would be a force to reckon with. Also, contray to what the Kyle C said, you're right about the CivicType R being the B16B. The B18C5 is in the Integra Type R. The Civic Type R has never been offered here in North America, unfortunately, so many of us do not even know that it exists.

a B series engine into a del sol is a very common swap. you will need the motor, transmission, ecu and axles l believe that model is still OBD1 to make sure, check the plugs for you distributor, if they're GREY you've got OBD1, black is OBD2.

You may also need a VTEC activation box, this plugs into your distributor, the vtec solenoid and a power supply. l can not remember if the del sol came vtec ready as far as the wiring harness goes.
