l own a 07 Honda Civic Si which is still under warranty and recently took into the Honda dealership because my clutch was acting up. After looking over they call me back and tell me that l need a new clutch and that Honda does not cover that because it was my fault. So the clutch gets replaced l go to pick it up and they say l owe nothing because it was covered by warranty. l look at the receipt and it says ''FAULTY CLUTCH'' and next to the charge column it reads warranty for all parts and labor. NOW they are calling me and telling me l have to pay for parts and labor but l have my receipt saying that l do not. What do you think? Do l owe them for parts and labor after having received my receipt saying that it was warranty work?

Sounds like the dealer messed up. Too bad for them because that is their problem.

Wear items are not covered by warranty. Therefore your clutch is not covered unless there is proof it was installed it wrong. Clutches do not wear out in less than 2 years unless its installed wrong or you cant drive.

under honda policy, it can go either way.

i've replaced a clutch in a 2 week old accord under warranty that had tire dust under the inner fenders & 3/4 of the tread worn off the rear tires (obvious signs of burnouts..and an attempt to hide it).


the dealer & honda will hash out the warranty details, & u will pretty much be along for the ride.

with them giving u back ur car at no charge, in writing; they've pretty much screwed themselves. either they will get honda to pay for it, or they will have to eat it.

I'd contact honda directly, & tell them that ur local dealer is trying to charge u for what is listed on ur no-charge ticket as warranty work.

let honda & the dealer fight it out.

do a google search for 07 si service bulletin. there is one for a faulty/defective gear box. if u did not have the repair done to the gear box it would cause ur clutch to fail. print it & bring to dealer.

i recently had the gearbox/transmission overhaul done & now have other ''new'' problems since the front end needs to be lowered to remove the tranny.

keep copies & records of everything so if necessary u can pursue lemon laws.

big waste of 20 grand.
