what does multi matic mean next to my handbrake...it has E, a dot and S and also what does econd mean it is next to my speedometer

The other answer is correct, but let me provide some color. What button actually does is change the RPM at which the engine upshifts. Under the E scenario, it will upshift into higher gears slightly earlier. Under S, it will stay in lower gears longer allowing the engine to rev a little higher before shifting. The latter gives you a little more power to the wheels but at the expense of fuel economy. Hope that helps.

S = sport
E = economy

It just changes the shift points so you either get better gas mileage or can accelerate faster.
