l have a civic 2006 1.8 vtec. the engine is 156 hpits not the American one (140 hp). l wanna boast t up and enhance its performance and power. is there any computer chips or anything l can do? l was told that the headers available are made for the American engine.i do not know whether it suits my engine. i'd appreciate any help l could get

if you want power then why the hell did you get a civic. and dont say ''some civics are fast'' cause obviously you have no clue what your doing therefore your civic will never be fast. just use it as a dd then get a v8

You do not have 156 horsepower.

The USDM and JDM engine both have 138 bhp.

Whoever told you 156, lied to you.

That, and engine horsepower does not matter.

Your actual wheel horsepower, is closer to 120. With headers, you may get that up to 125; but you will still have 138 engine horsepower.

A header WON'T give you any extra hp that you will actually feel on that engine, you MIGHT gain 2 hp and your mid range will be alittle stronger, that is it. You want more hp then l would go with a turbo or a swap, little bolt ons are just costly for what you get out of them, if you want a nice bump in power then get a turbo. Do not expect to be in the 12s with a stock block though.

Here is the only honest answer you will get: speed and power cost money. How fast do you really want to go?

l would start with a intake l would say Injen cold air intake unless u live where it rains a lot or floods, then get a short ram air. That can give u maybe 9hp or so maybe. Then get a reflash on ur ECU this can change the fuel & air intake for ur car it says that it can give u up to 25HP & change when the Vtec kicks in to 4500RPM. l did this to my 07 civic S l w/ cold air & the reflash it should be up to about 220 now. but all that will cost u about $700+ depending on what u get

well believe it or not u can get ur civic to smoke a skyline like cake .. u jus gotta spend money . headers give u 10 to 15 hp total but only 5 or 6 hp to the wheels not much but helps a lil .. if u want it fast nd dont want to blow alot of money get high compression pistons, cam gears, distributor spark plug wires stuff like dat datll give u dat boost u want . im pushin a 93 del si wit a prelude type s swap h22a4 .. fully built wit nitrous .. total of 863 hp .. 798 hp to the wheels .. deres so many things u can do like changing the head to getting braided fuel lines .. ne more questions email me
