JUST bought a 2008 Honda Accord in September (When its was still HOT)
Almost right away when l bought it (14 miles) brand new car l noticed a White smoke coming out from exhaust.Since it was new l tought it was going to go away but its not. l know its getting cold and white smoke comes out, usually in the morning, BUT this has been going on when the temp. was still in the 100's.

No matter what time l turn the car on the white smoke is shown.

I've taken the car to the dealership but they keep on saying their is nothing wrong with the car.

Their is no smell, and no black smoke. It does not happen all the time, but sometimes it happens everytime l turn the car on and other times it does not happend at all (keep in mind this is going on while the temp was hot).

Does anyone know what is wrong with the car? Has anyone heard of something similar happening to a Honda?

white smoke, means most likely oil is burning check your oil levels like once a week there are a couple other fluids that could be burning but oil is the most likely culprit. but on a car that new it is kinda odd.

l suggest you take the car to another qualified Honda service center and get a second opinion. Or maybe an opinion from a Pepboys as well. This does not sound right on a new car. There has been times when new cars give off a bit of smoke or certain smells as it burns off excess oil and grease that is put on the car for shipping purposes. This should have stopped at least a month into owning the car.

white smoke is usually burning water or antifreeze.have u been having to add antifreeze?

i think if it was me, being that new i'd take it back 2 the dealer. if they refuse to look at it or work on it, ur state has a ''lemon law'' & l would POLITELY tell the service manager to ask for the dealership manager & tell them both that u have a concern on their product, & if they refuse to satisfy ur concerns that u have other options availiable to you.

in ur manual someplace is a part that talks about having a problem with ur car that the dealer refuses to fix & a phone number to call if this happens..and trust me, that phone number works & using it gets the dealers attention in a new york minute! that number puts u in contact with honda is North American division & the last 2 things they want is #1 a dis-satisfied customer because 1 compliment of their product is ok but 1 bad mouth of their product by word of mouth can cost hundreds of sales, & #2 a dealership helping to cause that bad-mouthing of their product when warranty repairs cost dealers absolutely nothing because honda covers the cost of repairs & labor on warranty.and that car is 100% warrantied right now.

you have rights. this is a new car. they have responsibilities.

Sounds like the dealership that sold u the car is worried u got a ''lemon''---which gives u ''lemon law'' rights, which vary from state to state. Might want to consult an attorney to see what ''lemon law'' rights YOUR state has, if any.

Assuming you're getting on-schedule oil changes & have checked oil levels, water & transmission fluid levels, some more detective work is needed.

If you're running on ''regular'' unlead gas, go up the next level & try that for a week or two. If the problem persists, go up to the more expensive ''premium'' gas. Let the fuel indicator go to near empty before trying gas levels.

If this white smoke is still prevalent after use of all three gas levels, might be worth it to seek the proverbial ''second opinion'' & have ur car diagnostically checked by another reputable auto shop.

White smoke exhaust is an indicator something is amiss with the computerized emission control and/or catalytic converter system.

White smoke also can mean there is either a cracked / leaky engine head or problematic piston ring(s).

Again, a ASC reputable auto shop mechanic can examine ur car to be sure---and I'd avoid going to ur where the car was bought from.

From what you're saying, it may be that condensation if forming in your exhaust when you shut it off, and when you start it up again it turns to steam when it comes out you tailpipe. The garage was right. This happens on many cars.

u shud take it bak and make a complaint to them.
if u say theres smoke and obviosly its notsupposed to be there, obviosly sumthing is rong.

make a complaint, esspecially that is new

l own a 2008 accord as well and it does the same thing.i will tell u this it is absolutly normal. its exactly what one of the other says its condensation in the exhaust burnning off we have not seen any problems out of the accords for any issue like this.if ur vehicle was burnning oil antifreeze or anything other than gas im sure your check engine light would be on.the sensors in the exhaust pipes are very sensitive! hope this helps
