Should l buy a Honda Civic (1996) with 166,000 miles on it?
It looks really nice and has custom rims.
I am only 16 so it would be a good beginner car right?
I've heard that a Honda or Toyota will last a very long time and its okay to have this many miles on it.

civic would be a perfect starter car, but do you really want to buy a vehicle that has 166K miles on it. that is a lot of driving that car is been through. she could end up breaking down on you at any second. sure, honda is are known for going onto that many miles, but l would look into something with fewer miles.

Yes this would be a great car for any beginner driver.Just be sure to look the car over very close. l advise to pay someone to check it out before u buy unless u or anyone u know has the knowledge about used cars.Be careful because sometimes people will throw a set of''pretty'' wheels on a car just to sell if it has other problems.Ask about maint. records or has the timing belt been done.Inspect the tire condition!Hondas r great quality cars but if someone has never maintained it u could be buying somebody elses problems!!!! Hondas & Toyota r the best used car for ur money!And 166k miles r not an issue if the car has been maintained.GOOD LUCK!

First off- do not worry about the miles it has for not just a first car but ANY Honda; it is really all about how much TLC it got up to that point! l love my Hondas l never buy new always used & my sweet 1994 Prelude kicks butt even though she has over 200k miles on it; l took it to a mechanic l trust(he is Honda ASC certified pro & knows his stuff), plus l took the VIN number to the site l will give you. Then l had it repainted yellow but u might not like that. anyways. Timing belt changes & such r very important, & flood damage etc. but in any case as a rule for a first car Honda Civic with 166k miles is killer sweetie! As long as a real ASC Honda mechanic says it is good & the VIN checks out u will be amazed at how responsive they are; be responsible & have fun!

u should buy a chevy they are more reliable then toyota or honda

My advice is ''Dont go ahead with this buying idea.'' 166,000 miles is a lot. Considering it;s a Civic {Honda Family} u would say that they r reliable & prove to be very fuel efficient. True. But a majority of Honda Civics have been burned in or used very rashly. Civic 96-98s have been very harshly used & have been modified by teen drivers. Most of them will look appealing from the out but under the hood, the engine would be taking it is last breaths. So my advice is to look for a Honda Accord 99-02. They would be very nice for a new learner & they r durable in the long run.

l wouldnt, thats alot of miles, get a newer civic, those r tight

ok for a good price u will be fine. 166k really is not bad, that old & that many miles u ought to get it for under 3 grand if its in good shape. things to check: interior, is it worn or in good shape, engine, is oil dirty, does coolant look good & up to level. is the engine clean or does it have oil leaks, even if its a little dirty as long as there is not a leak or as long as its not oily wet. also ask about the timing belt u could even pull the cover off easily enough & see how it looks. l have owned multiple civics & love them, they sometimes have problems like anything else, but used parts r easy to find & they do run & run & run, especially if taken care of.

yeh its a good car but if ur lookin to do performance on it dont get one. the money youll spend in a new engine or modding then its better to buy a faster car to begin with.
