l am moving from Toronto to California for good.
l have a Honda CBR 1000 RR and would like to ship it with me.
l checked all my sources and the internet and found out that all a still need is a letter from the manufacturer saying that my motorcycle complies with California standards (ie. EPA and FMVSS)
l even contacted a shipping company and they tell me that without that letter from the manufacturer, l cannot register my motorcycle in California.
l called Honda USA, and they told me that they do not know anything about that bike and that l should be contacting Honda Canada.
l called Honda Canada, and they told me that they no nothing about the California standards and that l need to contact Honda USA.
l spoke to 6 different people and every single one of them point to the other direction.
No-one seems to assume responsibility or even try to help me.
Right now, l am thinking of selling the motorcycle, but winter is around the corner and no-one will buy it.

How should l deal with Honda Customer service?l even asked to speak with a manger and they told me that they cannot give me a manager…

It is a 2007 model and the owners manual says that it complies.
Even under the seat there is a sticker that talks about compliance with US standards, but the shipping company say that l still need that letter.Anyway, if l could sell it right now l really would, but noone would buy a motorcycle in this kind of weather so its so hard for me to sell.

That is the problem with vehicles built outside of the U.S. Each country has its own regulations and they do not always jive with the U.S.'s. Unless it already meets U.S. regs, Honda has no obligation to make any statements for or about its suitability for the U.S. Best thing to do would be to sell it and buy a U.S. model.

l am not 100% but since it is a bike there might not be many emission regulations. l have an R6 & it does not need to be smogged or anything like that.

In the meantime u can ship it over legally but register it as either non-operational or for off road use. Which still does not let u drive it on the road.

instead of calling them on the phone what u really need to do is speak to someone in person. they r probably giving u the runaround because they do not want to waste time on something like this & risk losing sales. l used to work at an Acura/Honda dealership for 7 years & know what the jerks that run dealerships r like. they're just being lazy. but if u go down & speak to someone in person & speak to them with a stern voice, u should be okay. did u buy it from the dealership? because if u didn't, they will give u an even harder time. bring all necessary paperwork with you. because they will try anything to get u out of there to make sales instead. g'luck
